Expecting a baby is such an exciting time for not only the soon-to-be parents but also for the entire family. I know this because three years ago, my sister and my brother-n-law announced to us that they were expecting. We all burst into tears of joy and excitement, especially the soon to be grandparents, for this was the first grandchild on both sides of the family. I’m sure you can imagine how excited we were when we heard the news. From the day my nephew was born I thought all I ever wanted to do was to document every moment of his life. I wanted to preserve his story.
But I soon realized that my desire for photographing his life grew into a passion for photography. To me photographs are a preservation of a moment in time and when pieced together it becomes a story.
For expecting parents – after nine months of pregnancy you anxiously wait for the day to hold your baby for the first time. You want to preserve this moment in time because they are only newborns once and these images are a piece of your story.
For parents – you’re watching your child grow up from the time they take their first steps, to missing their first tooth and then reaching their teen years. You want to preserve these moments in time because these images represent your story.
