Motherhood Photoshoot In-Studio | Covina Family Photographer

I had so much fun creating a space for this recent Motherhood Photoshoot at my home studio in Covina, California. I’ve been dreaming about this concept for years but I had so many excuses that held me back. Like, could I get enough natural light in the studio? Is my studio too small? Will clients be open to it? The list goes on on on.

But this past year, I attended a couple of lifestyle and storytelling photography retreats. I learned ways to find the natural light in any room. How to capture motherhood and how to tell a story through my lens. After leaving, I felt so inspired and encouraged to finally put my plan into action. It was my goal to create a space that was my own style and that it was also comfortable for my clients.

Storytelling

Part of photography is storytelling. Each image weaved together tells a story and in this case about motherhood; the connection between mama and her daughter. I first begin by asking my clients what words best describe this particular season in their life. This helps me draw from those words so that I can capture it through my lens. During the session, I quietly observed their interaction and gave subtle queues as I continued snapping away. I wanted to make this experience enjoyable and not forced. Here are some gorgeous images of mama and her beautiful daughter.
